FCNM Advisory Committee Makes Official Visit to Hungary
The Advisory Committee on the Framework Convention for the Protection of National Minorities (FCNM) made an official visit to Hungary as part of its monitoring of the implementation of the FCNM by member states. Members of the Advisory Committee visited Hungary between December 2 and 6 in order to assess the country's progress in the protection and promotion of the rights of its national minorities. The delegation visited the Hungarian cities of Budapest, Pécs, Alsószentmárton, and Nyíregyháza where it met with government representatives, civil society, and members of national minorities.
Based on its findings during the visit, the Advisory Committee will draft its sixth opinion on the implementation of the FCNM in Hungary. The opinion is expected to be published in early 2025. More information about the Advisory Committee and the FCNM can be found on the Council of Europe's website.
