Call for Input on the Contribution of the UN to the Full Realization of the UNDM

The UN Special Rapporteur on Minority Issues, Prof. Nicolas Levrat, is calling for input to inform his 2025 report on the UN’s role in realizing the 1992 Declaration on Minority Rights. The report, to be presented at the 80th UN General Assembly, will examine how UN entities implement Article 9 of the Declaration, which mandates UN agencies to contribute to minority rights. Despite UN efforts, minority issues are often not explicitly recognized, creating an impression of inaction.

This call seeks input from state and non-state actors on their experiences with UN programs addressing minority issues. Contributors are asked to share examples of UN actions benefiting minorities, instances of discrimination, and overlooked minority concerns.

Submissions are due by April 15, 2025. The information will help assess UN efforts, highlight best practices, and identify gaps for improvement.
