Call for Chapters for the Book “Ecocultural language spaces: threats, resilience and maintenance of living minority heritage in Southeast Europe and South Caucasus”

A call for chapters has been issued for an upcoming book edited by Andreea Pascaru (Vienna) and Giustina Selvelli (Ljubljana) titled Ecocultural language spaces: threats, resilience and maintenance of living minority heritage in Southeast Europe and South Caucasus. The book will examine the relationship between language, culture, and the natural environment within minority communities and focuses on Southeast Europe, Turkey, and the South Caucasus. It will emphasize the interdependence between cultural heritage and ecological landscapes, and explore how displacement, environmental degradation and socio-political challenges impact language preservation and cultural practices. The book will be published in Spring 2025 as part of the Peter Lang series “South-East European History” of the Balkan History Association.

Prospective authors are asked for submissions exploring how language, memory and nature intertwine in the daily lives and cultural practices of minority groups. Abstracts should be submitted by 15 November 2024 to the editors.
